We are looking for
The team Sustainable Soil management at Alterra is searching for an enthusiastic scientist with experience in model development, model application, impact assessment and research on topics related to the interaction between agriculture and environment on a regional scale. This includes emissions of greenhouse gasses from agriculture, closing mineral cycles in food production, bio-based economy and carbon dynamics in agricultural soils.
We ask
The candidate:
has preferably a recent PhD in soil science, agronomy, environmental chemistry or a related science;
has experience with model development and model application;
has knowledge of and interest in European agriculture and its environmental impact;
is a team worker;
has excellent communication skills including scientific reporting in the English language;
is capable of setting up and maintaining an international network.

Result oriented, creative, aiming towards high quality results, excellent communicating skills, showing initiative, flexible.
We are
The Sustainable Soil Management team consists of 22 people and is one of the research teams within Alterra working on the interaction between agriculture and the environment. Major research topics include Environmental Quality, Resource Use Efficiency in Food Chains, Bio Based Economy and Climate Change Mitigation.
Alterra is the research institute for our green living environment. We offer a combination of practical and scientific research in a multitude of disciplines related to the green world around us and the sustainable use of our living environment. Flora and fauna, soil, water, the environment, geo-information and remote sensing, landscape and spatial planning, man and society: just a few of the numerous aspects of our green environment that Alterra focuses on.
