PhD position
The fate of engineered inorganic nanoparticles (EINP) in the
environment is controlled by the surface properties of the EINP. These
properties change in aquatic systems due to surface reactions and the
development of a coating with organic macromolecules. Within the
DFG funded research group InterNano
(https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v1/url...c7342b1d3d03373)
we apply Raman microspectroscopy and Surface enhanced Raman
spectroscopy to detect and monitor coatings of organic substances on
silver nanoparticles.
We offer a PhD-position (3 years, 65% TV-L) in a joint research
project together with colleagues from environmental and soil
chemistry, soil physics, soil ecology, environmental sciences, and
microbiology. We offer a range of interdisciplinary joint experiments,
summer schools, and other activities.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in either
physics, chemistry or hydrochemistry and hydrogeology, will be
familiar with spectroscopic methods (ideally Raman spectroscopy) and
possibly with microfluidics and will be willing to adopt related
fields.
Moreover, the project is a sandwich project to a research project in
the framework of the International Graduate School of Science and
Engineering and is eligible to the benefits of this structured
PhD-program. An international research stay at one of our partner
universities is mandatory.
Please send your application including CV, transcripts of master's
degree, and one letter of recommendation to thomas.baumann@ch.tum.de
