Beschreibung: The International Max Planck Research School for Global Biogeochemical Cycles (IMPRS-gBGC) in cooperation with the Friedrich Schiller University Jena offers a PhD program in global biogeochemistry and related Earth System sciences.

The following PhD projects are offered during the 8th call for applications:

1. Understanding the shape of root water uptake profiles across biomes

2. Quantifying and scaling global plant trait diversity: how do environmental constraints and land-use affect the multivariate trait spectrum at global scale and how is this reflected in ecosystem fluxes of carbon, water and energy?

3. The impact of soil microbial food web complexity on turnover of soil organic carbon

4. Merging organic and inorganic geochemical proxies in lake sediments
