In the frame of the project "Technology for desalinated seawater use in agriculture", funded by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), Saudi Arabia, we offer a position at the Institute of Landscape Ecology and Resources Management, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Environmental Management, starting from as of now

1 Scientific Assistant (PhD. 65 %) (GIS, hydrological modeling)

The position is limited to three years employment. In dependence of tariff conditions, salary is according to E13 collective agreement Hessen (TV-H).

Responsibilities: In the field of GIS-based hydrological modeling several soil salinity models shell be tested and implemented in the SPARE: WATER decision support system. Based on this, the PhD will evaluate the spatially dependent potential of using partially desalinated water in irrigation agriculture and calculate the water footprint of agricultural crop production.

Requirements: You have completed a scientific university degree in one of the subjects of hydrology, geo-ecology, agronomy, environmental computer science, environmental science or related disciplines. Modeling skills are required. We further expect GIS and programming skills (preferably Python, VB.net). Very good presentation and communication skills, willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team, and proficient English knowledge are required.
