Details:
The objective of the PhD research is to identify agricultural practices in an irrigated watershed of South India and to model the farmers' irrigation strategies.
This PhD is part of a interdisciplinary project (AICHA) on "Adaptation of Irrigated Agriculture to Climate Change" including hydrologists, economists and agronomists from France and India. The model to be developed by the PhD student is expected to be coupled to a hydrological model developed by hydrologists. The knowledge of the diversity of irrigation practices and their spatial location will help parameterisation of the coupled agro-hydrological model and will be used by economists to build scenarios of adaptation to climate change.
The PhD will be funded by the AICHA project. Net month salary will be based on INRA grid. We expect receiving the funds soon, so that the PhD could start in March or April 2012.
