Postdoc position in 'Wet forest ecology' (Greifswald)

We are seeking a

Postdoctoral scientist in

“Wet forest ecology�

Duration: 22 months with possible extension of 10 additional months
German salary level: TV-L 13 (100% for 22 months, thereafter 50% for 10 additional months)
Start date: March 1st 2018

The working group “Landscape Ecology and Ecosystem Dynamics� at the University Greifswald, Germany, lead by Prof. Martin Wilmking, is seeking a scientist to work in the area of forest ecology on hydromorphic soils in mid-latitude forests. The development of your own research profile within this general direction is encouraged and the candidate is expected to contribute to several existing research projects, among them “Wetscapes�
(https://www.wetscapes.uni-rostock.de/en/). The position will include some science management aspects as well. Our working group runs the state-of-the art dendroecological laboratory “DendroGreif� and a general ecological lab. Instrumented field sites (dendrometers, sapflow etc.), greenhouse and garden space are available. We are looking for a highly motivated, team-oriented candidate with a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in a relevant field, e.g. Biology, Ecology, Landscape Ecology, Physical Geography, Forest Sciences. Necessary requirements include excellent English skills, a relevant international, peer-reviewed publication record, and experience in third party funding. Experience with dendroecological methods, ecological experiments, climate, environmental and growth monitoring equipment are an asset, as is a valid driver’s license and German language skills. Very good statistical skills and the availability for field work are ideal.
